This print is an ARTIST PROOF (A/P). This print was created for a portfolio released by the National Cartoonists Society in 1977-78. The complete portfolio consists of a total of 34 art prints in 3 volumes. Size: 12" x 16" Published in 1977-78 by Collector's Press, this is a print from The National Cartoonists Society Portfolio of Fine Comic Art.

Volumes two and three were combined in the final illustrated envelope by Burne Hogarth, and include seven plates that are also signed and numbered by each artist, as well as 7 more bonus plates that were thrown into the mix as a "thank you" to the people that had purchased these in advance and had to wait for some of the artists to make good on their commitments to this project. The envelope containing Volumes two and three contains: "Death of an Ace" (color print) by George Evans, "Through whom my power flows" by Michael Kaluta, "Teddy Bear" by Bernie Wrightson, "My good buddies" by Jack Davis, "Tarzan" by Neal Adams, "Star Hawks" by Gil Kane, "Pogo" by Selby Kelly, "Merlin" by Hal Foster...all signed by the artists. Bonus plates include: "Merlin"(color print) by Hal Foster (shot from a hand-colored original...beautiful!), "The Gauntlet" (color rough for the movie poster featuring Clint Eastwood) by Frank Frazetta, "Swamp Rescue" (The Spirit) by Will Eisner, "Prince Machiavelli" by Burne Hogarth, "Sex Objects" by Harvey Kurtzman, and "Space Soldiers" by Al Williamson. Simply amazing.
The printing quality holds up to this day...the finest reproduction techniques available at the time look as good as today's high-end lithos and giclees!
Each is printed on archival fine art paper, and each piece measures 12 x 16.
Some of the loose pieces are also being offered for sale as well as we sort the inventory, but buying the complete set will save you quite a bit of money (even if you are only interested in 3 or 4 prints...and most of you will love more than that...they're all great).
